Protect Your Family from
Hidden Air Pollution Dangers
How an air purifier can help

Every parent worries about health threats to their children and loved ones. Many are out of Mom and Dad's control but others can be handled with the press of a button.

Surprisingly, levels of indoor air pollution may be two to five times greater than the outdoors, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. What can concerned parents do to make sure they and their family are breathing the cleanest, freshest air possible at home?

"One way to ensure high indoor air quality is to use an air purifier that can refresh the air and remove airborne allergens and irritants," said Art McKinnon, manager, appliance marketing, Sharp Electronics Corporation.

Sharp's new air purifiers with the unique Plasmacluster technology help clean indoor air the same way Mother Nature cleans the outdoor environment. "It creates positive and negative ion clusters effectively cleaning the air by breaking up airborne particles," added McKinnon. "Our Plasmacluster purifiers mimic this process." In addition, Sharp's new air purification products go beyond conventional systems by using three different filters to remove airborne irritants and allergens.

Shopping Tips

When shopping for a new air purifier, make sure it's the highest quality and includes a HEPA filter. HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) is the highest efficiency air filter available for filtration of small particles. The following steps will ensure that you and your family "breathe easy" at home:
  • Keep cigarette and cigar smoke out of the home; it settles in clothing, furniture and carpets.
  • Thoroughly clean areas that accumulate dust and dirt, such as bookshelves, countertops, air ducts and so on.
  • Be sure your vacuum has a HEPA filter.
  • Keep the windows closed and indoor air circulating when the outdoor air pollution index in your area is high.
